• Frontier FR advanced fire safety materials that block flame and thermal transfer

Flame Retardant Materials and Fire Barriers with FRONTIER® FR

DEVELOPING NEXT GENERATION FIRE RESISTANT MATERIALS

Frontier® FR brings new technology platforms that produce fire barriers, fire retardants and materials that block thermal transfer and toxicity. These are built for the demands of modern aircraft interiors.

Frontier materials are designed for higher performance, lighter weight and regulatory compliance across every type of aircraft, from commercial and regional airlines to business aviation and military aircraft.

Frontier FR products often start from new base materials formulated with Duracote’s own flame resistant coatings. They can also be built to add noise reduction and anti-static control, so one lightweight material solves several problems at once.

Fire Resistant Headliners, Coatings and Adhesives

Frontier FR technology keeps pushing what a lightweight barrier can do. In one test, a lightweight reinforced fabric at 3 ounces per square yard with an inorganic FR coating was exposed to 1900 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 5 minutes and held its barrier performance.

Frontier FR products are often developed utilizing new base materials formulated with our proprietary flame resistant coatings. Additionally, they may be designed to offer noise reduction and anti-static control – all in one lightweight material solution.

Frequently Asked Questions About Flame Retardant Materials

What is the difference between fire retardant and fire resistant materials?

Fire retardant materials are treated or coated so they slow ignition and resist flame spread. Fire resistant materials are built to withstand fire for a defined time without losing their structure. Frontier FR spans both. The coatings add flame retardance and the barrier constructions hold up under direct flame.

Do Frontier FR materials meet FAR 25.856?

Yes. Frontier headliner laminates pass the radiant panel test to FAR 25.856(a), and the FR coatings and FR adhesives pass FAR 25.856. Request the current test documentation for the grade you are specifying.

Can one Frontier material handle fire, noise and static?

Yes. Frontier FR products can be designed to combine flame resistance with noise reduction and anti-static control in a single lightweight material, which cuts weight and simplifies fabrication.

Which aircraft are Frontier FR materials used in?

Frontier FR materials are engineered for commercial and regional airlines, business aviation and military aircraft.
